Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn will run for Congress to fill the seat being vacated by Rep. Jane Harman, D-Venice,  The City Maven has learned.

Hahn has represented the Fifteenth District, which includes Watts and San Pedro, since 2001. She ran for lieutenant governor last year, but lost in the primary to then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.

Her father was the legendary county Supervisor Kenneth Hahn and her brother, Jim Hahn, was mayor of Los Angeles from 2001 to 2005.

News outlets were reporting this morning that Harman will leave Congress to lead the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.  It was not immediately clear when Harman would step down.
