Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa did not mince words this afternoon when, during a City Hall news conference, he was asked about the possibility of a federal government shutdown.
The proposal from Republicans in Congress could have a $560 million impact on the city, according to Villaraigosa. The mayor then went on to criticize the entire situation.
“It’s outrageous,” he said.
“Look, these people are bringing us to the brink of disaster and it’s a perfect example of why people are so turned off by the partisanship you see in D.C. I will be clear about this, and I call ‘em like I see ‘em, I think the Republican leadership in the House has been very irresponsible here. President Obama has said to both parties, it’s time to come together and figure this out because we cannot afford to be without a government,” Villaraigosa said.
