- A former member of the Fire and Police Pensions board is suing the city of Los Angeles for legal fees he incurred when he was investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the Los Angeles Times. Sean Harrigan oversaw $14 billion in retirement funds from 2006 to 2009.
- The number of Los Angeles police officers involved in use-of-force incidents in the first half 2011 was up compared to the same time last year, reports the Daily News. “The numbers are up nationwide, so it’s not necessarily an anomaly to our department,” according to Police Commissioner Richard Drooyan.
- The City Maven confirmed the names of some of the 21 appointees to the city’s redistricting commission. The mayor, city attorney and remaining council members have until next Wednesday to name their appointments.
- Art Walk will no longer include food trucks from Third to Seventh streets, between Spring and Main according to BlogDowntown. The decision was made by a task force studying safety risks and precautions at the monthly event. Last month, an infant was killed when a car jumped a curb and crashed into a crowd of pedestrians.
- Katherine Schwarzenegger, daughter of former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, talks to Harper’s Bazaar about her family’s rocky summer. The 21-year-old USC student tells the magazine she is focusing on her family — and not the tabloids. Sorry TMZ.
