Assemblyman Warren Furutani came out on top today as the candidates for the Fifteenth District city council race filed their first campaign finance reports.
Furutani’s campaign raised $132,576, with another $100,000 in matching funds from the city. In second place was LAPD Officer Joe Buscaino with $103,063. He, too, picked up $100,000 in matching funds.
Here’s how the other certified candidates made out:
- Pat McOsker, $91,004 (with another $85,212 in matching funds)
- Jayme Wilson, $90,000
- Rudy Svorinich, Jr., $57,660 (with another $66,480 in matching funds)
- Gordon Teuber, $32,440
- Justin Brimmer, $22,133
- Rebecca Chambliss, $15,350
- M. “Candice” Graham, $0
Neither Frank Pereyda or John M. Delgado, Jr. had reports listed on the Ethics Commission website as of 9:30 p.m.
The reports include donations through Sept. 24.
On the independent expenditure side, the Los Angeles Police Protective League PAC spent $6,157 on a mailing for Buscaino, who received the union’s endorsement earlier this month. McOsker has benefited the most from independent expenditures, with the group Working Californians spending $146,566 on mailings, research and polling.
The primary is set for Nov. 8. The CD15 seat was vacated by Janice Hahn in July upon her election to Congress, where she filled a vacancy left by Jane Harman.
