Assemblyman Warren Furutani was endorsed today by the L.A. League of Conservation Voters in the Nov. 8 special election to fill a vacancy on the Los Angeles City Council.
Furutani is one of 11 candidates running for the Fifteenth District seat.
The L.A. League of Conservation Voters made news last month when they canceled a debate that was scheduled between just two of the 11 candidates, Furutani and firefighter Pat McOsker. At the time, the reason for the cancellation was that one of the certified candidates did not receive an endorsement questionnaire, and the debate was intended to be part of the endorsement process.
Furutani was previously endorsed by the Sierra Club.
*Update:
LALCV board member Moe Stavnezer said of the endorsement, “Warren Furutani has a proven record of fighting for clean air, a stronger economy and safer communities. Mr. Furutani understands the range of public health and quality-of-life issues facing neighborhoods throughout the Fifteenth District – and he knows that a healthful environment, good jobs and public safety go hand-in-hand.”
