The place to be this morning is UCLA for the L.A. Business Council’s “Building L.A.’s Workforce Summit.”

Los Angeles Times columnist Jim Newton will moderate a morning panel with three mayoral candidates — Eric Garcetti, Wendy Greuel and Jan Perry. Topics will include housing, transportation and jobs.

At 12:30 p.m., Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will give the keynote address,”Building a More Liveable City.” He is expected to talk about the upcoming release of community plans, the construction of 50 pocket parks and the Crenshaw and Exposition rail lines.

The morning will kick off with remarks from former U.S. Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros and Los Angeles City Councilman Herb Wesson.
