- City Attorney Carmen Trutanich will announce a $95 million lawsuit against Northern Trust at a news conference later this morning. “The collateral, the profits of which get split between the pension fund and the asset manager, were supposed to be invested in a way that would produce minimum risk, according to the complaint. Instead, Northern Trust, which didn’t share in the losses from the invested collateral, put them in highly risky investments, according to the complaint,” according to Bloomberg Businessweek.
- Koreatown residents spoke out at last night’s Redistricting Commission meeting, reiterating their desire to stay in one council district, reports Neon Tommy. “Korea is divided as a nation, which is something that was done externally. That’s something that doesn’t need to happen in Los Angeles; we can keep Koreatown in one district,” one constituent told the panel.
- Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar and James Shaw from the Union of Medical Marijuana Patients were on Which Way, L.A.? to discuss a proposed ban on medical marijuana dispensaries.
- Gov. Jerry Brown appointed former chief of staff to Mayor Jim Hahn, Tim McOsker, to the local board responsible for dissolving the Community Redevelopment Agency.
