A deputy district attorney who dropped out of the race for district attorney last month has backed Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich’s campaign to be the county’s next D.A.
Mario Trujillo left the campaign trail in March, citing a health concern. In his endorsement of Trutanich, Trujillo said,
I am pleased to enthusiastically endorse Carmen Trutanich for district attorney. My experiences as a former classroom teacher and prosecutor make it easy to endorse Mr. Trutanich because of his visionary approach to crime prevention. Carmen recognizes that we cannot arrest our way out of the current gang problem and instead we must hold the school districts accountable to expand anti-gang, job training and after school programs to keep kids safe.
Other candidates running for D.A. include chief deputy district attorney Jackie Lacey, deputy district attorney Alan Jackson, deputy district attorney Danette Meyers, deputy district attorney Bobby Grace and deputy district attorney Steve Ipsen.
