Walton in 2010 upon her graduation from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Stories are frequently linked to on LAObserved, LAist and the Huffington Post-Los Angeles.
The City Maven’s newsletter, Maven’s Morning Coffee, is sent out every weekday morning to the city’s most engaged readers. The email includes the day’s headlines, news conference, public meetings and announcements. Sign up here to receive the Maven’s Morning Coffee in your email inbox.
An offshoot of the website is City Maven Radio Hour, a weekly podcast about public affairs in Southern California. The program is hosted by Walton and political consultant Brendan Huffman. Past guests include Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy, Controller Wendy Greuel and the city’s top political reporters and consultants. The program can be heard every Thursday at 11 a.m. on LATalkRadio.com. It is also available on iTunes.
Walton is the 2012 president of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Los Angeles chapter. She was a reporter with City News Service from 2005 to 2009.
